Sam's thoughts and feelings.....
My first professional dance job in Italy was a blast. Rehearsals were in Rimini, where the beach was down the street. The dance clubs were amazing and I had a lot of great nights at them. Every month we worked in a different place. I fell in love with the Italian people, their language and sense of family.
We worked in Milan for a month. I was blown away by Milan's beauty as a city. A big plus was that I found a great Dance Centre and got myself into a professional jazz class Monday-Friday and explored around the city of Milan the rest of the time. That month flew by.
I was sad when my Italian contract came to an end, but I was also looking forward to the next adventure so didn't resign for another year.....

Working at the Paradis Latin for the TV show was incredible. Then working in their normal nightly show was unbelievable. It was the first time I danced in a show where all the dancers were phenomenal!!!! I could not believe I was going to be in a show dancing with such phenomenal dancers. Yes!! I felt intimidated by them as they were older, more experienced, their technique was on another level and their presences on stage had me melting in my seat when I got to watch the show before I started my rehearsals.
I also had to cover the singer in the show when she went on holiday. No, I hadn't learnt to sing yet. The Paradis always had a dancer mine to her voice, it was so much fun! It was like being in your bedroom with a hair brush in your hand miming to Whitney Houston (yes, her voice was that good), but you got paid to do it on stage with costumes and a real mike HA!...

I went to dance classes in Paris at the Paris Dance Centre, after all I was dancing with some high level dancers and needed to get myself to that level. The Paris Dance Centre had amazing jazz classes there. One guest teacher was an ex Alvin Ailey soloist called Christopher Huggins. He was one of the most inspiring teachers I had the pleasure to be taught by. Doing his class and watching him like a hawk really changed my dancing and took my dancing skills up another level.
