With Commercial work your look is more important than any other genre in the industry.
I was never very confident about my look for Commercial work. It might be because I was clueless for my first commercial work audition and turned up in a leotard and cycling shorts HA!
I felt like the character from Chorus Line who in her song sang "Dance 10, looks 3".
I did not get that job surprise, surprise. But I quickly learnt why.
After that I did my best to change my look by changing my hair to funky hair extensions and my clothes to more of a commercial current look.....

Kevan Allen
I loved every job I did for Kevan Allen because Kevan's choreography challenged us as dancers, you needed to be on your A game with your technique which was what made it fun for me. Personally, I found Kevans numbers were always visually beautiful, creative and inspirational. Although all Kevan's jobs were hair,car or corporate work, he managed to have a theatrical feel to his numbers blended in with current street feel.....

Tudor Davis
One of the commercial jobs I will never forget was the Princes Trust. Tudor Davis choreographed it and he managed to get some of the best dancers in London on that job. It was such a pleasure to work with all those fierce dancers, plus the job was a real challenge in versatility as one number was commercial jazz, another was West Side Story and one was an old style musical theatre.

Sam returned to England after her last contract in Paris and set about joining as many Dance Commercial Agencies as she could to try and make it as a Commercial dancer in London. She was 26 years old and had been working abroad for 7 years.
Sam worked for Arlene Philips, Kim Gavin and Kevin Allen to name a few choreographers she worked for commercially.

Sometimes commercial jobs would be more theatrical. Sam's theatrical jobs were Souls In Motion a comtemary dance company. Prince's Trust and Night of a 1000 Voices both at the Royal Albert hall.
Sam worked on TV shows such as: “Saturday Night Divas” (ITV) Strictly Dance Fever” (BBC), “Get Up, Stand Up” (comedy series on Channel 4), “Smash Hits Awards”, “The Brit Awards”, “Top of the Pops”,“Good Morning TV”, “Bruce Forsyth’s 70th Birthday Special”, “The Prince’s Trust” and “A Night at the Opera” (BBC).
Sam also appeared in the movie “De-Lovely” (directed by Irwin Winkler, 2004) about the life of Cole Porter starring Kevin Kline, Ashley Judd and Jonathan Pryce.
