The idea of becoming a dancer never changed from age 4 years old to 19 years old when I left dance college to finally become a professional dancer. Every lesson I had at Alexander Academy was one step closer to my dream.
I was naturally gifted as a dancer. I was very flexiable, I could jump very high and I had a good feel for my center when turning. I still had to work hard, just because I had natural ability did not make me a finessed dancer....

I was never competitive with the other students at Alexander Academy. My focus was always for me to do better than what I had achieved in my last dance class, rather than on trying to be better than others.
I loved every dance discipline that I did at Alexzander Academy and when I left I had learnt 5 dance disciplines. Which I guess was the groundwork and start of me becoming versatile as a dancer.......

My favourite dance disciplines were Classical (ballet) and Jazz. I could not wait till I was old enough to do pointe work in my Classical classes. I loved pointe work so much I didn't mind if I had the odd blister from pointe work and if I did have a blister I knew it was because I hadn't lifted my weight off my toes enough by using my centre. If your dance teacher keeps repeating use your centre, listen well and use it. I had no idea when I was younger just how important it was to use your centre.

Sam started her first Ballet class at Alexander Academy when she was 3 years old and took her first ballet exam when she was 5 years old.
Shortly after her first exam her parents moved the family to Barbados for a year. Sam took ballet and modern classes in Barbados too.
Sam's parents returned the family back to England and Sam returned to Alexander Academy for ballet,modern and tap classes.
For a few terms Sam also attended National dance and Drama classes at Alexander Academy. Sam was introduced to the dance discipline Jazz when she was 11years old.......

Sam's dance exam were in I.S.T.D ballet,modern,national and tap often passing with Honours, but also receiving a few Pass Plus and Pass marks and even Fail for her Grade 4 Tap.
Sam left Alexander Academy when she was 16 years old to continue her dance training at a dance college.
